Pricing

Website design prices in NZ, straight up

Here’s exactly what a website costs with me. A one-page Starter Website is $300, one-off, with no GST added — I’m not GST registered — with a $150 deposit to get started. Domain and hosting are paid separately, and I’ll explain those before you commit. Need something bigger? I’ll quote it in writing before any work starts.

Paid separately

Domain and hosting, explained.

Every website needs both. They aren’t part of the $300 — and before you commit, I’ll explain the options and costs so you know your total.

Domain name

Your web address — like yourbusiness.co.nz. You pay a domain registrar for it, usually once a year.

  • Registered in your own business’s name, so you always control it
  • Already have one? I can usually use it
  • Paid to the registrar, not included in the price

Hosting

The service that keeps your website online for people to visit, 24 hours a day.

  • Billed separately from the website price
  • I’ll explain the options and costs before you commit
  • Static one-page sites are light and simple to host

Website cost in NZ

What affects the price of a bigger website?

If you need more than the Starter Website, these are the things that make the biggest difference to your quote.

  1. 01

    Number of pages

One focused page is the most affordable option. Each extra page adds design and build time.

  2. 02

    Features

Online booking, a shop, custom forms or integrations add work and testing.

  3. 03

    Content

Supplying your own words and photos keeps costs down. Writing from scratch and photography cost extra.

  4. 04

    Starting point

A redesign can reuse your domain and content, but may need tidying or moving across.

Questions

Pricing questions, answered plainly.

Have a different question? Ask me directly.

How much does a small business website cost in NZ?

It varies widely with the number of pages, features and who writes the content. With Website Lane, a one-page Starter Website is $300, one-off, with no GST added. Domain and hosting are extra. Bigger sites are quoted in writing so you know the price before any work starts.

Why is there no GST?

Website Lane is a sole-trader business that isn’t registered for GST, so GST isn’t charged on my prices. The price you see is what you pay me.

Are there any extra costs on top of $300?

Your domain name and hosting are paid separately, and I’ll explain those costs before you commit. Anything outside the starter scope — extra pages, booking systems, writing from scratch — is only added if you ask for it, and always quoted first.

Why not just use a DIY website builder?

If you enjoy building it yourself and have the time, a DIY builder can work. Most of my clients would rather spend their evenings on their business — and want a site that looks professional without the trial and error.

Do I have to sign up for anything ongoing?

No. The Starter Website is a one-off price. Maintenance, SEO, ads and social media are all optional — choose them later if and when they make sense.

About website maintenance

How do I pay?

A $150 deposit (50%) gets you started, and the remaining $150 is due once you’ve approved the finished site, before it goes live. Payment details are confirmed in writing — I’ll never ask for card or bank details through this website.

Do I own my website?

Once the agreed payments are made, you receive your website’s custom source code — subject to any third-party licences (for example fonts or stock images).
